Plasma Rain Now Available WORLDWIDE

At long last…

We are beyond proud to present Plasma Rain, the much anticipated conclusion to the Angry Ghosts Series.  Ordinarily, we’d make a glib comment about our author taking ten years to bring this story to a finish (2009 – 2019). But right now we’re just ecstatic to share it with you, dear readers.

New Cover art for Plasma Rain

With the book block for Plasma Rain complete, we’ve turned our attention to the cover. For the finale of our decade long series, we wanted something special.

Against all hope, we contacted Marek Okon, a brilliant mixed media artist. Mr Okon has worked covers of the biggest Triple A games like Naughty Dog’s Uncharted Series & The Last of Us, Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone, and Sony’s God of War. He has also produced some of our all time favorite book covers like Andy Remic’s Hardcore. He is, without question, our first choice.

There was some begging on our part (we’re not proud) and we were overjoyed when Mr. Okon accepted our project. From the initial concept images, we knew we had found the right artist to bring Thompson, Argo, and Maiella to life.

But we were unprepared for how stunning the final draft would be. We couldn’t be more pleased.

And the cover:

Thank you all for taking this journey with us! We know it has taken a long time to get here. We hope you’ll agree, this one is worth the wait.

Of Mortal Creatures available worldwide Dec 25th

We at C.O.P. thought this day would never come. We thought, Well, that’s it… Farnham’s finally gone and done himself stupid. It was a rational assumption, because death is a brain cell’s only reasonable means of protest against liquor of that magnitude.

Yet, here we are.

For a Cadre Operator, the need to serve is bred in the bone and honed to a razor’s edge…

Thompson, Argo, and Maiella were once the inseparable Team Spectre, unequaled in lethality and stealth. But mistaken identity aboard the Colony Ship Europa led to seventeen human deaths. In a time where all mankind numbers less than two-thousand, taking human life is the only unforgivable crime…

For Argo, nothing matters more than regaining his honorable place in the Operator Corps. For Maiella, subservience to authority is no longer enough, and she searches for a master greater than the Cadre. But Thompson has not faced his demons from the Europa disaster. He must decide where his loyalties lie, and quickly, because the hell storm unleashed during his mission to Earth is catching up with them all.

Thank you so much for your patience! We can assure you the series conclusion, Plasma Rain, will not be so long in coming.

As for Farnham, he’s getting a fat sack of charcoal for Christmas. Which he’ll probably use to mellow his cheap bourbon.

Happy Holidays and have a wonderful New Year!

You know it when you see it. And if you could see us now, you’d see an assemblage of gin-soaked nerds more proud than Bill Gates on his first date. We simply could not be any more pleased to announce that our new book, The Exhausted Dead, is finally available in print and eBook.

Took us a long time getting here (for which we’ve frequently hazed our author) but now at Journey’s End we can sit back, relax, and share with you what we’ve been building, cutting, and shaping over the last two and a half years:

Exhausted Dead Cover

For a Cadre Operator, there is no retirement but death.

Thompson, Argo, and Beckert limp back to Cadre One in a stolen transport. The reconnaissance mission to occupied Earth has left them broken, barely alive. But the truths they discovered beneath the rotted concrete of Washington, D.C. cut deeper than Blueskin knives…

In the terabytes of raw data from Earth, Cadre Techs find evidence of another covert research station called, ‘Cadre Two.’ If it exists, could it have escaped the genocide like Cadre One? Could there be survivors?

Cadre Operators quietly don their gear and prepare for rotation. Beneath their stoic exteriors, they know Cadre Two could be a burned out shell. Or, it could be a trove of lost technologies, possibly a refuge should the ancient machinery at Cadre One fail…

…if the saffron-eyed alien hasn’t found it first.

We’re trying out Kindle Direct, so pop over to Amazon for eBook. You can also get yourself a print copy, while you’re there.

For anyone who’d like a signed copy, First Editions purchased direct from us at COP will have Farnham’s chicken scratch on the first pages. Let him know for whom he is signing. If he’s too hungover, we’ll prop him up, jam a pen in his hand, and tell him he’s late for his college finals again. Be prepared for a list of likely economic spin-offs from Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative or a rambling treatise on Big Oil and Agribusiness in South America.

So we’re hoisting our glasses in celebration, toasting another cycle completed. If you’re local, come on by. More the merrier.

And speaking of merry…May Santa bring you all something good this year.

Ever forward.

What, really? A Title?

Here at C.O.P., we were sure of only a few things: buying “cheap” is always a false economy, dogs are better than cats, and China would spontaneously forgive the US debt before we saw a title for “Book 3”.

It’s good to be wrong sometimes.

If you’ve been to the home site, you’ve seen the working title has been Blood Libel for a while now. Imagine our joy now that the ultimate metaphor for murder is indelibly associated with a politically popular moron.

On a more positive note, our famously under-producing author finally delivered some viable alternatives. Guess the new office chairs worked. Or was it the singing? No matter.

Lex Talionis / Law of Retribution
The Exhausted Dead / Lord of the Exhausted Dead
Daimonioi / Those Driven by Demons
Morituri / We Who Are About to Die

While we haven’t decided for sure which will be selected, you can be sure there will be no more references to “Book 3”. If media attention to “Blood Libel” fades (and we realize by posting this, we are keeping it alive), we may also keep that title in consideration. Your input is highly valued and welcome.

Artwork for the new cover is still in the initial stages, yet the basic idea is in place. It will be an homage to one of the most powerful images we’ve ever seen: John Heartfield’s Peace and Fascism
Anti-Nazi, Anti-war
The image is severe. Moving. Terrifying. And it conveys the central truth in the story’s theme.

Ruthless militarism is incompatible with long term survival.

This book will be the culmination of events–journey’s end for Argo, Maiella, and Thompson. Action and emotion de Profundis. We’re excited to see this one finished. Many of you have said the same. So feel free to drop Mr. Farnham a note and let him know it’s rude to keep people waiting.

Ever forward.
