Just a quick update that our latest children’s parable, Panda, the Heart, and the Mirror will be available soonMarch 31st or sooner in illustrated hardcover. Cover and interior images were done by the enormously talented Van J Levent. We couldn’t be more pleased!
Final cover and book block have been sent to the printer for proofing. The format is 8.5″ x 8.5″ with Premium Color. Soon as we have a perfect print copy in hand, we’ll open the taps.
Let’s face it, some of us haven’t aged well. Could be inevitable leathering from sun-drenched youth. Could be over enthusiasm for barrel-aged spirits. Or could be genetic lineage back to the British Isles. (In our author’s case it’s the trifecta)
As we look back on our library there’s one title that hasn’t held up like we imagined. BHFaBS deserved more creative percolation, more review, more development. But we were a much younger publisher then, and, in our eagerness, we prematurely published.
Did we consider going back and fixing it? Oh, sure, many times. Instead, we decided it was more important to get the subsequent novels out before Hollywood or another author produced work that was too similar. James Cameron’s Na’vi (with blue skin, tails, and yellow eyes) in Avatar felt like a shot straight across our bow, and we needed copyright protection ASAP.
Now that Plasma Rain is a wrap and we have a complete series, BHFaBS gets the treatment it always deserved. Not to worry, we didn’t stuff it with a hundred eyesores like George Lucas did to his once-beloved Sci-Fantasy masterpiece.* We revised it with more experienced eyes to improve story flow, pace, description, and many many grammatical corrections. At last, the book has its proper voice.
Kindle version of BHFaBS has already been updated. To celebrate, we’re offering the Kindle e-book Black Hawks From a Blue Sun for free from now through Feb 29, 2020! If you’ve already read it, be sure to get your updated version. If you liked it, please leave us a review and tell a friend. Or, if you haven’t tried it out yet, now’s a great time to give it a whirl.
We’ll make another announcement as soon as the updated softcover is available. For anyone with a previous version of the softcover, we’re going to do a limited number of trade-ins. Give our author a note at fafarnham at gmail dot com to be on the list.
As always, thank you for sticking with us all these years!
-All of us at C.O.P.
*Han shot first, and we will fight everyone who argues.
As hinted in our prior post, we have some new titles coming. And we are proud to announce Farnham’s latest work, Panda, the Heart, and the Mirror will release on Kindle E-Book and Hardcover February 14th, 2020.
Panda, the Heart, and the Mirror is a delightful tale about a Panda who rescues a frozen Heart in a wintry forest.
Together, Panda and the Heart embark on a quest to find the man who discarded the Heart and discover why he chose to leave his Heart behind. Along the way they see magnificent sights, encounter spirits of Nature, and discover as much about each other as the land they explore.
Sweet, romantic, and occasionally profound, this is a story both children and adults will adore.
With Plasma Rain in print, we’ve brought conclusion to our ten-years-in-the-making series, Angry Ghosts; and we’re simply thrilled at the response. Page reads in the Kindle Lending Library are at an all time high. (We credit Marek Okon’s incredible talent on the cover for Plasma Rain, and maybe—just maybe—we got the pages between right)
Okay, the series is done. Now what?
Some might think we’d rest on our ample haunches, clinking tumblers, in celebration. Well, sure, there were more than a few Old Fashioneds poured, but Luxardo Cherries aren’t cheap. And ultimately, it really is about creation. Writers write. Publishers publish.
Beaning around in Farnham’s noggin is a supernatural/psychological thriller in the vein of Dean Koontz. It’ll be a standalone novel, not a series, and oh my is it daaaaarrrrrrrrk…
We also have a story that’s hard to classify. Kind of a “Bedtime Story for Adults,” if you will. We’ll put it out shortly.
There may be an anthology of short stories, as well, taken from the Vivid Dreams posts on this blog and projects elsewhere.
In the meantime, thank you for your support! It means everything to us. And, please, if you’ve read our books, would you leave a review? Reviews are crucial to building visibility online. Goodreads, Amazon, blog pages, chat rooms, anywhere you can, we’d be immensely grateful.
It’s okay. You can say it. You never thought this day would come. Well neither did we. So it is with shock and awe that we announce the final draft of Plasma Rain has been delivered!
A blizzard of copyedits, beta reads, artwork, and layout, that’s what. And since Farnham took his sweet time completing his series conclusion, we have to relearn all of the applications we’ve forgotten how to use over the last four years. Did we mention it was four years since Of Mortal Creatures?
FOUR YEARS, Farnham.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, we’re elated with this conclusion. So many threads to weave, so many story lines deserving completion… We had no idea how the tale of Thompson, Maiella, and Argo would wrap up. Now we do, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Keep checking back for updates as we offer sneak peeks at cover concepts, press kits, Author Review Copies, and more.
In the meantime, let us know what you think is the best revenge for making us all wait so long:
As ever, thank you for sticking with us all this time.
Oh, didn’t you know? Cadre One Publishing, LLC has broken out of the Great White North and relocated to far-more-temperate Austin, TX. While our Yuletide season may be lacking in Wintry Wonder, never shoveling the driveway again is ample compensation.
Far more important: Plasma Rain has completed its second round of edits and is in the hands of beta readers, as we speak. True, that means we won’t make our soft target of release by end of 2018, but we’re close. Once we have initial feedback, we’ll make a final pass edit, then copyedit, layout, and print. Won’t be long now!
In fact, if you’d like to be a beta reader, send an email to FaFarnham at gmail dot com, subject line, Plasma Rain Beta Reader Request.
In the meantime, we’re in a giving mood. From now until the 27th, you can download a free e-copy of both Angry Ghosts and Black Hawks From a Blue Sun. Even if you already have a copy, invite a friend to try it out!
Happy Holidays, and wishing you all an excellent 2019!
